Briefing
Three goals: attracting riders and rental providers for bikes on the platform, while also attracting seed-capital to run and grow the platform.
Problem
Getting riders and rental providers to trust a new platform and business model, with their precious bike(s) or money is hard.
Insight
Bike-enthousiasts, for whom the platform is built, are a small but tight community. Emphasising the platform is built ‘for and by bike-enthousiasts’, is a powerful approach to gain trust and loyalty.
Solution
A crowdfunding campaign was the best way to get both owners, riders and funding, while living the spirit of the community-run platform.
Result
The crowdfunding campaign landed €335k seed funding from 183 bike-enthusiasts, more than 200% of its campaign goal. The campaign gained lots of free publicity in biking sports media outlets, its investors became active brand advocates, resulting in massive platform activity.
